Never-ending GAS
December 23rd, 2009 § Leave a Comment
Gear Acquisition Syndrome, also known as, GAS, is a term used for musicians alike who urge to accommodate lots of gear, like guitars, effects, amps or what have you. I am a musician of my own and I have been GAS-ing for more than a year simply because I can’t afford all of these.
Let me enumerate.
Guitars: Squier Telecaster Custom, PRS SE Custom 22, Gretsch Electromatic Double Jet
Effects: Line 6 DL4, Boss TU-2 Tuner, Digitech Whammy, EHX Holy Stain
Amplifiers: Marshall MG50FX, Vox Amplug
GAAAAAAAAAS. Yes, that’s my list right now. I’m intending to get it one by one and if I’m already satisfied, joy. Don’t get me wrong, this is only a simple guitar setup, nothing complicated whatsoever. I have simple guitars, ranging fromPhp20k-40k, effects ranging from Php20-30k (All in all) and the amplifier, let’s say 15k. So there. All I need afterwards is a band!
Meanwhile, I have been searching how to avoid GAS as much as possible and found this article, which kinda helped me, somehow.
I would love to have at least one of the guitars this Christmas! Hehe! Oh btw, Merry Christmas Everyone!
Nike (RED). Lace up, save lives. Join the cause!

Nike partnered with product (RED) to promote Nike’s new product against HIV and AIDS and also protecting the people infected with it, especially in Africa. The launch event was held in NikeTown London with famous footballers including Chelsea’s Didier Drogba, Arsenal’s Andrei Arshavin and Fulham’s Clint Dempsey plus U2′s vocalist, Bono. The main advocacy is the connection of athletes and the sign of caring for people in Africa as said by Nike and (RED):
“The (RED) Nike laces can tie athletes around the world together with people living under threat from HIV in Africa in a beautiful way” said Professor Michel D. Kazatchkine, Executive Director of the Global Fund. “Wearing these (RED) laces is a sign that you care about others – and it helps us to protect and treat millions of people who every day risk infection or struggle with the effects of HIV”
Nike’s main product as of now is the red laces, which costs only $4. The profits go to the people in Africa. I’m planning to buy one of these to help fight HIV and AIDS and help the people in Africa because I care. Yes, I’m a footballer and I will spread this advocacy to my teammates.
Let’s join the cause!
My 12 Craves for Christmas
December 9th, 2009 § 3 Comments
I read through my good friend’s blog and saw his post about his 12 craves for Christmas. So I decided to post a version of my own craves for this Christmas.
Of course, my list includes gadgets, oh yeah and a pinch of non-material cravings.
1st: The first one on my list is the Blackberry Curve 8900. I’ve been wanting this phone ever since it was released. Yeah I know, why not the Blackberry Bold? Well, the Blackberry Bold is all great and everything, but it’s too common for me now. So I might as well get something unique.
2nd: I’ve been wanting to sack this PC I’m using and I need a laptop, specifically, the Apple Macbook Pro 15″ (2.8GHz Version). It’s the most ideal laptop thus far and this will really help me.
3rd: Oh yes, the camera. I’m a photographer-wannabe and I want a DSLR of my own, the Canon EOS 50D. It is by far the most impressive camera for me from Canon’s line apart from their higher-end, professional grade camera bodies. I want the 28-135mm kit please
4th: Talking about music and other media, the Zune HD suits my liking. Yes, there’s the oh-so-famous iPod Touch which is the main competitor to this device. Ever since the Zune HD was released, I think it is far better than the iPod Touch, aside from the app store. I don’t know what to get yet, and I’m still waiting for the app store for the Zune HD but I’ll see. Besides, I might be getting an iPhone when I graduate.
5th: Besides gadgets, I love soccer. I’m a boot junkie as well. So far, I’ve been wanting to get the Nike Mercurial Superfly. I love the design so much and it only weighs 185g! Talk about flair and speed! Only thing that bothers me is the price, a whopping $350. You heard that right!
6th: I’m a guitarist and I would love to have a band and have 2-3 guitars. Although, I have not been GAS-ing for the past few months is because I’ve settled for one guitar that I would like to have. It’s the Epiphone Dot in Cherry. This guitar suits my liking very much and I love the classic essence on it. Plus a variety of effects will make me happy!
7th: To compliment either the Zune HD or the iPod Touch, I would need some cool headphones, particularly, the Monster Beats by Dr. Dre. These headphones were designed by Monster and the famous Dr. Dre to create the ultimate beast of headphones! The price has dropped from $350 and now up to $250 and these headphones are not only for the function itself but for fashion options as well!
8th: I’m a bit demanding when it comes to wearing something. Particularly, clothes and shoes. I want a variety of tees, plaid polos and jeans. I become more meticulous when it comes to shoes. I want dunks! Although I have no money to buy a pair. Poor me. So this will be a great Christmas gift! And New Era caps as well!
9th: This is the final material thing on my list. An Xbox 360 Elite. I’m a casual gamer and this will suit my gaming sessions.
10th: One of the places I would like to travel is Europe. It would be a pleasure to visit all the countries and see all the spots in person.
11th: Christmas is all about Jesus and family. My Christmas wouldn’t be complete without my family. I want to see all my cousins, titos, titas, lolas, lolos, EVERYONE! and spend the joy of Christmas.
LAST: I have a feeling that this will be one of the loneliest Christmas besides the gadgets and all. It’s because my mom is in the US and she won’t be spending her Christmas here with us because of her work. I wish she was home. I love you mom!
This is all for now. I know I have more things in my list, but these are the things I would love to have and really need for school and my own pleasure!
Lastly, Merry Christmas to all!
The unaccomplished list

Before the 2nd trim started, I made up a list of aims/goals for the trim. Result = FAIL. Here’s the list.
- Use the computer for 2 hours/day.
- Advance study bcoz of varsity purposes.
- Save at least P50 a day.
- Leave gadget mania…for now.
- Have a least 3 exemptions.
- During games, be home before 6 pm.
- Jog and play basketball at least once per week.
- Less frolics/gimmicks
- Upgrade vocabulary
- Balance studies and soccer
So there. I haven’t accomplished something from the list, even one. I guess I need to step up a little bit, or a big one.
Busy me

I have been busy for the past few days because of hectic schoolwork and the coming Trim Tests so I haven’t had the chance to post an entry or two. I’m in third year now, so I expect myself to be busy all the time especially because of the preparations for college. Oh, Christmas is just around the corner. I’m really excited and sad at the time. Sad? Yes. My mom might not come home from the US to spend her holidays here with us.
I hope this Christmas will be great. I would love to spend my time with relatives, that would make my Christmas really happy. Of course, GIFTS! Ehem gadgets. I told my mom already what I want for Christmas, a camera. So this is all for now. I’ll make a blog or two after the tests. Study study study
The strive for an easier life in college
November 10th, 2009 § Leave a Comment
For the sake of posting, I made this blog for our IT Class in which we have to answer this questions. “How will the internet affect or how has it affected the way colleges/universities offer the course you’re interested in?”
Without a doubt, the internet has been our very own medium. And everyday, it changes, becoming more intellectual and user-friendly. The internet has everything, and it makes life easier for us. Nowadays, universities nationwide have been developing their own websites for admissions, announcements and what not. Some websites I know give students the chance to see their grades online and it makes it more convenient, benefiting the student.
First and foremost, I plan to take Management Engineering in ADMU. Management Engineering scopes the usual practice of engineering but transferring them in the business management process. It highlights the core managements subjects such as finance, economics or what have you. So the internet will be much needed for this course. This is were researching becomes a necessity for an engineering student and ideas are much needed. The internet is full of sources and ideas can be branched out easily.
Taking courses such as engineering will need a life’s use of the internet. Engineering needs a lot of research. And convenience becomes a necessity as well. Meaning, you want to make your research fast.
Advancements in technology makes life easier for students as it grows everyday. I will be in college in about 2 years and I would expect a great leap of improvements in the internet, making my college life easier.
Recent call-ups

Recently, our coach announced that there will be a U-16 tournament in Thailand this November 30, for the Philippine team. I was excited, of course. Hopefully, I could join the team. It’s a chance of a lifetime and I’ve been training everyday for this, which reminds me of something. Let me tell you a short one.
Last summer, I was invited by our coach to be part of the U-14 RP Team to compete in Singapore and of course, I said yes. I was really excited to be part of RP Team but one thing ruined it all, my passport. It was expired already and my mom had to renew it quickly, but I was too late. FAIL. I was envious.
So this is my second and maybe last chance to join the RP Team. Only problem I have is my mom, she’s not with me right now and they have to contact her as much as possible.
I need prayers!

I always eat when I’m bored, no lie. I love eating more than cooking! But I’ve finally decided that I have to learn how to cook as well. Let’s start from something simple, like a snack for the afternoon. Probably the simplest snack I can make are wicked Oreos. These are Oreos simply wrapped in a hotcake batter. Throw them in a chocolate dip then you have a simple snack! That’s what I’ve been cooking when I’m bored for the past weeks. I simply love ‘em. Let me show you a picture.
The picture sucks, sorry. I used a webcam to take a picture of it.
So there. Try it! here are the ingredients:
1 pack of Oreos (your choice of flavor)
Hotcake batter (flour, eggs, oil and all that jazz in the box)
Chocolate dip or vanilla ice cream (I choose both)
That’s simply it. Just deep fry and be careful because it cooks really fast like about 10-15 seconds, you don’t want a burned one. HAHA.
Cooking tips aren’t my thing. I just wanted to share this simple recipe. Let me know what you think when you’ve tried it!
Happy Halloween! Happy November!
My page-long wishlist; decisions
October 30th, 2009 § Leave a Comment
Everyone has a wishlist, and I have one, a long one. Yes I can be materialistic most of the time and I like buying things. It’s pretty awkward. I always plan what to buy next. I don’t know why I plan stuff, and it will cost a lot of money, a lot.
Probably the first thing I will buy for Christmas is a DSLR, the Canon 50D, specifically. I’ve been wanting a camera of my own ever since and also want to excel in photography as a hobby. I like taking pictures, that’s it. Next is a phone, I’ve told my mom already, and she said yes. My iPod Touch 3rd Gen this November, maybe. Ah, my birthday. Hello Macbook Pro! build up from that. Accessories galore! Last, the iPhone. Then I’m contented already.
Next, clothing. I need shoes, especially. I won’t spend too much on jeans (4 or 5 will do) and tees (I prefer plain V-Neck shirts). That’s it.
I love music. I want to have a band. I play guitar and I need at least one electric guitar and a lot of effects.
Gadgets are my life! Sigh. Too much materialism right now, sorry. I always do this when I’m bored or depressed about something.
